What we promise, in public.
How we label, correct and handle complaints. If we fall short, tell us; if we don't fix it, take it further.
Know what you're reading.
News and opinion look different on purpose. Paid content is amber, always.
- News
What happened, reported and checked.
- Analysis
A reporter explains what it means, from the facts.
- Opinion
A writer's argument, not ours. We still check the facts it rests on.
- Explainer
How something works, updated as it changes.
- Sponsored
Paid for, made by our commercial team, and it says who paid.
- Paid political ad
Election advertising, with an authorisation naming who approved it.
Every fix, logged.
We correct significant errors promptly, on the story itself and here, with what changed and when. We don't quietly edit.

The rest of the promise.
If a story criticises you, we'll ask for your side and include it.
