The single-lane Old Kerrin bridge will close to all traffic from Monday 9 November for six weeks while crews replace its timber deck and two of its six piers1, the shire council confirmed on Monday.
Drivers between Millbrook and Riverbend will detour via the highway bridge at Ashford, adding about 20 minutes each way. School buses will use the same route, and the council says timetables will change from 9 November.
We know six weeks is a long time for Millbrook. The deck is past patching.Shire engineer Kate Moss

A temporary footbridge will stay open for people on foot and bikes, except on two nights when the crane is working. Those dates will be posted on the council's site a week ahead.
A new bridge?
The council has applied for state and federal funding to replace the bridge; a decision is expected next year. Mayor Sean Kelly said the repairs would keep the bridge safe "for at least another decade" either way.
