Children's eyes.
When should a child's eyes be tested?
Before starting school, then whenever something changes: squinting, sitting close to the TV, headaches, or trouble with reading. We test from about 3 years old.
Does Medicare cover children's tests?
Yes, on the same basis as adults, and we bulk bill.
What about short-sightedness?
It's becoming more common. We'll check for it at every visit and talk through options if it's changing quickly.
Time for a check?
Forty-five minutes, unhurried, and bulk billed when Medicare covers it.
