The firm

Fewer clients,known well.

Calder was founded to look after a handful of families properly, rather than a great many at a distance.

Every client has a partner who knows the whole of their affairs: the returns, the trusts, the fund and the business, and the people behind them. We keep a limit on the number of families we act for, and we would rather say no than take on work we can't do well.

We work in a quiet office on Knox Street, in person or by video, and we answer our own telephones. Most of our clients come by introduction, from other clients, their lawyers and their advisers.

    If a plan is aggressive, we say so. No refund is promised, and no shortcut taken.

    Deadlines met early, and the next generation brought in gently.
