KF·40 Aftercare

Day by day, healed.

Slide to how many days it's been. Here's what's normal, what to do and what to leave alone.

Fresh

It's an open wound for the first few days: a little weeping, redness and swelling is normal.

  • Leave the second-skin film on for as long as your artist said (usually three to five days)
  • Wash gently with clean hands and mild unscented soap
  • Pat dry with paper towel, then a thin layer of balm
  • No swimming, baths, saunas or the beach
  • No scratching or picking

Peeling and itchy

It flakes like a sunburn and the colour looks cloudy. That's the top layer coming away.

  • Keep washing twice a day
  • Moisturise thinly when it feels tight
  • Loose, clean clothes over it; clean sheets
  • Don't pick or peel the flakes
  • Still no swimming or sun on it

Settling

The surface has closed but the skin underneath is still healing. It may look a little shiny.

  • Moisturise if it's dry
  • Cover up or stay in the shade
  • Hold off sunscreen until the surface has healed
  • No tanning or solarium

Healed

The colour has settled. Book a free touch-up within three months if any spot needs it.

  • Sunscreen, every time it's out in the sun

It's getting worse

Spreading redness, heat, pus, a fever or red streaks after the first few days can mean infection. See a GP; don't wait for us.
