Keep your sunshine for tonight.
A battery stores what your panels make in the day for the evening. The federal discount makes it cheaper, and it's biggest on the first 14 kWh.
How big a battery?
Your battery
Up to 14 kWh: full discount14 to 28: 60%28 to 50: 15%
The Cheaper Home Batteries discount is paid as STCs on usable capacity, and steps down every January and July until 2030. It's set by your install date. STCs at $38 each.
Bigger isn't always better. Above 14 kWh each extra kWh gets 60% of the discount, and above 28 kWh only 15%. For most homes, the right size covers your evening and overnight use.
The discount steps down every 1 January and 1 July until 2030, and it's set by your install date, not your quote date.
Approved batteries only. The discount needs an approved battery, installed by an accredited installer, and able to join a virtual power plant if you choose to.
How the discount works.
6.8 STCs per kWh up to 14 kWh, then 60% to 28 kWh, then 15% to 50 kWh.
Then 5.2 from July, and on down to 2.1 by the second half of 2030.
We claim the certificates and take their value off your invoice.
